He sums it up… "I discovered my love of music when I was about seven, inheriting it from my mother, a chorus line dancer and singer. Because of my obsession for music, my life became a roller coaster of ups and downs; never quite hitting the bottom or ever reaching the top. Little did I know that my passion would take me on a lifetime adventure… allowing me to rub shoulders and work with some of the worlds’ musical elite.
“There were obstacles all the way, but I didn’t mind… music was my life and. singing was all I wanted to do. Boy, did I suffer some difficult times though…I ended up in reform school, suffered racial abuse in the US Air Force. I even served a prison sentence. Then in 1956 I finally got my first professional break, when a nationally known group called The Flamingos recruited me. This opened the door to my dreams.
“Suddenly I was appearing on stage with names I would never have once believed possible, such as Elvis Presley, Bill Haley and the Comets, Billie Holiday, Johnny Mathis, Otis Reading, Fats Domino, James Brown, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, Roy Hamilton, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Buddy Holly, Aretha Franklin… and many more… the list is endless…"
